BEACH WORKOUT with the KIDS!!
Are you headed to the beach this weekend or taking a beach vacation soon? It's easy to use the excuse that "I'm on vacation" as a reason to not workout, but you can think of this beach "workout" as a fun activity to do with the kids while you're basking in the sun!
Red light / Green light
This is sort of a game/suicide sprint activity that you can do with your kids. Let them go first. Tell them to "GO" and have them run as far as you feel comfortable and then yell "STOP" (or Green light / Red light) and then have them run back. Then it's your turn. Have you kid tell you when to "GO" and "STOP".
"Weighted" Squats and Lunges
Let's face it, squats and lunges are not everyone's favorite exercise. But when you have a cute little face starting at you, it can make it a little less painful. Hold your kid and have them wrap their arms around you and do 15 squats then 10 lunges on the right leg and 10 lunges on the left leg. Have you kid count so you can't cheat! You can even put them on your shoulders or on your back. To add more of a challenge, turn your squats into frog leaps!
Animals on the Beach?
Map out a space of about 20-30 yards and draw a line in the sand as your start and finish. Stand at the start line with your kid and act out the following animal movements down to the finish line and then back again:
- Bear Crawls
- Crab Walks
- Frog Leaps
Don't forget your water and sunscreen and most of all ... have fun!
