MONDAY MOTIVATION: 5 Reasons to ALWAYS workout on Mondays
We all know how hard it is sometimes to start the week off. You may be feeling sluggish from changing your schedule on the weekend and getting out of your normal routine. Or maybe you ate or drank a little more than usual and you were a little less active. BUT ... instead of looking at it like "I have a case of the Mondays", try changing your attitude and think about the clean slate you just drew yourself with a whole new week ahead. Here are 5 reasons why I think Monday should always be a mandatory day to workout ;)
1 - Roll the Momentum
You will be getting the ball rolling with a workout on Mondays that hopefully will carry you through with the motivation to keep going the rest of the week. You are much more likely to stick to the plan if you started the week off the right way.
2 - You'll be happier thanks to Endorphins
When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins which interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body. I mean, who wouldn't want to start their week off feeling happy?!?!
3 - You exhibit better Self-Control
When you exercise, your body also releases a neurotransmitter called GABA which blocks nerve impulses which can have a calming effect keeping you in control of nervous behavior. Making better decisions when it comes to food choices or exercise can make or break your week!
4 - You will Sleep Better
Numerous studies have shown the correlation between exercise and better quality sleep over the years. Here is an interesting study that shows that people who exercised at least 150 minutes per week (the national guideline) had a 65% improvement in their quality of sleep.
5 - You'll be More Productive
Exercise makes you more alert and gives you more energy and you can't really argue that alertness and energy will definitely make you more productive. Who knows ... maybe you can thank you Monday workouts for your next promotion!
